Resources are essential to our well being. Identifying and using our resources, as well as developing new ones, can help us feel more centered, more present, more fully alive.
A resource is anything life-affirming that makes us feel comfortable and secure. Everyone has his or her own set of resources. Among other things, a resource is a positive memory, person, animal, place, action or personal capacity that creates a soothing feeling in our body. Consciously and actively using our resources is known as "resourcing" and is an awesome means of calming ourselves when feeling unsettled.
We have inner resources as well as outer resources. Inner resources tend to be personal qualities we have, inner strengths that help us soothe ourselves. Outer resources are external supports or actions that foster a sense of comfort and well being.
